CINNAMON SUGAR PRETZEL BITES

Auntie Anne’s knows what they’re doing making the whole mall smell like their pretzels. Here’s a simplified healthier version that can be made in 1 bowl.

What you need

cup superfine sugar
egg

cup baking soda

tbsp salted butter

all purpose flour
dry yeast

tbsp light-brown sugar
tsp salt
Instructions
1. Mix warm water, salt, brown sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 10 mins until yeast foams. 2. Add flour and sourdough discard to the yeast mixture. Mix well. 3. Slowly add melted butter and knead the dough until smooth (3-5 mins). 4. Cover and let the dough rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size. 5. Divide the doubled dough into 8 pieces, roll into ropes, cut, and form into balls. 6. Preheat oven to 475º; boil a large pot of water with the baking soda. 7. Boil dough balls for 30 seconds, then place on a baking sheet. 8. Brush with egg wash and bake for 10 mins or until golden. 9. To a bowl, mix together, brown or white sugar and cinnamon. 10. Brush each pretzel bite with melted butter and dip it in the cinnamon sugar. Repeat this step for each bite.View original recipe
