EASY BAGELS AT-HOME

Growing up in Jersey, I’ve been spoiled with some of the best bagels. Now that I’m a sourdough girlie, I wanted to try to make some myself and it was surprisingly easy.

What you need
egg
tsp dry yeast
salt

tbsp superfine sugar

cup all purpose flour
Instructions
1. Mix flour, yeast, sugar, and salt in a stand mixer. 2. Combine sourdough discard with warm water and add to the mixture. 3. Hand-knead the dough until smooth; adjust with more flour if needed. 4. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl covered with plastic wrap for 1 hour. 5. Divide the dough into 8 parts, shape, and rest for 20 minutes. 6. Preheat oven to 425º, line a sheet, and boil water with sugar and baking soda. 7. Boil each bagel for 30 seconds on each side. 8. Transfer bagels to the sheet, reshape if necessary. 9. Brush with egg wash, sprinkle with everything seasoning. 10. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden.View original recipe
